SupaQuick celebrates its birthday with 12,000 VR headset giveaways

To celebrate its 30th birthday and to distinguish itself from the festive buzz, SupaQuick is giving away 12,000 Virtual Reality headsets, with customer purchases valued at R4,000 or more.

To generate excitement among consumers, the group’s agency came up with a 30th birthday campaign. Artifact Advertising client service director, Sandy Smith, says, “To create hype around the virtual reality experience that consumers can get with these goggles, client needed a campaign that offered the chance to bring these experiences to life.”

The idea was born to bring virtual reality to real life by creating amazing experiences – initially on the VR goggles to be enjoyed by all - and then translating those experiences into massive real life adventures to be won.

Smith says fans are offered the chance to win these real life activities, from treetop zipline craziness to galloping horseback rides. “To explain the virtual reality story, videos were shot from a ‘first person’, immersive perspective to showcase the types of real life experiences consumers can win through Gift Experiences SA on the SupaQuick website.”

The videos were shot using Go-Pro cameras and brand new 360 degree virtual reality footage to bring the ‘first person’, completely immersive – or stereoscopic - experience to life. After watching and engaging with the videos, visitors can win gifting experience vouchers that allow them to enjoy these escapades with friends.

The TVC, prompting viewers to visit SupaQuick and get their free VR goggles, launched this week and is supported by in-store, digital and social media.
