Part of the DMASA’s core purpose as the industry body is to stimulate growth in the industry, and in order to encourage participation from agencies of any size and age, we have the Newcomer Award. Each year sees a number of new faces involved in the Assegai Awards, as the industry expands and new players enter the fray. Starting out is tough and it can be scary going up against giants in the industry. They are the benchmark agencies aspire to, yet often when starting out we fear being measured against them and refrain from entering – the result is not getting well-deserved recognition.
Irrespective of which category your work has been entered into, if it is the first time entering the Assegai Awards, you will be eligible for this award. This will be presented to the highest scoring first time entrant. (should companies enter multiple times the highest scoring entry is taken into consideration).
Zinthatu Award. We welcome the renewed interest in The Assegai Awards, as demonstrated by the number of new agencies entering each year. Yet we would be remiss if we did not recognise those more seasoned agencies who demonstrate continued and consistent excellence as evidenced by the quality of the work we see from them each year. It is for this purpose that the board has voted to introduce the Zinthatu Award.
