    The Digital Media & Marketing Association (DMMA), in association with Avusa Media Live, BDFM, Primedia Online and iafrica.com, is running digital publishing debates in Johannesburg and Cape Town on 15 and 23 July 2010 respectively.

    • Paywalls - will they work in SA and in what situations?
    • What are the implications for advertisers?
    • Is print still subsidising online?
    • What alternative revenue streams are available to digital publishers in SA?
    • Quality journalism, how important is it in the online environment?
    • Content quality vs. content quantity, which is more important?
    • What effect does citizen journalism and social media have on SA digital publishers?
    • What is the future for online publishing in South Africa?

    Dates, venues

    The Johannesburg debate, hosted by Avusa Media LIVE and BDFM, is on Thursday 15 July at 11am at Avusa Media Building, 4 Biermann Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg. Cape Town debate will be hosted by Primedia Online and iafrica.com is on 23 July at 2pm at 15 on Orange Hotel, Corner Grey's Pass and Orange Street, Cape Town.

    Panels

    In Johannesburg and Cape Town, Nikki Cockcroft, CEO Primedia Online and Deputy Chair DMMA, will give the introduction and DMMA Update.

    In Johannesburg, the moderator will be Mike Stopforth CEO Cerebra and the panel will be:

    • Geoff Cohen - GM Publishing, News24.com
