It's almost time to rAge

The fifth annual rAge computer, gaming and technology expo, which takes place at the Coca-Cola dome in Northgate, Johannesburg, next weekend, 28 – 30 September 2007, is set to be the biggest so far. Organisers are reporting a year-on-year growth of 30% in both exhibitor and public attendance.

The expo highlights the latest in PC and next-generation console gaming, computer hardware and software, gadgets, accessories, mobile technology, networking equipment, comics, anime figurines, trading cards, board games and more. It has also become an arena to build brand awareness – the Xbox 360 launched at rAge 2006, and Nintendo Wii will appear at rAge 2007.

From the exhibitor point of view, rAge 2007 is sold out. More than 50 exhibitors, ranging from electronics brands, games distributors and retailers to educational institutions and magazines, will be at rAge this year, including LG, Samsung, HP, Nokia, Intel, Electronic Arts, Nu Metro, Look & Listen and CNA.

Putting together the 1500-gamer NAG LAN @ rAge is a monumental feat that will be accomplished by a VC crew over four days in the run-up to the expo. Involving around 13km of network cable, 2.5km of power cable, 3000 plug points, 84 off 24 port switches with gigabit uplink ports and 8 off Gigabit layer 2 and 3 switches, the NAG LAN will be the biggest in African history. Demand for the gaming event has reportedly increased dramatically each year, and this year has been no exception, with 1500 tickets selling out in 22 days.
