Creating a large impact

New player Impact Media hopes that the growing level of competitiveness will help develop the large-format out of home market, drive improved service, and provide for greater opportunities in terms of creativity and quality. The new company has already made a sizeable 1575m2 impact with Nike on Johannesburg's landmark Turbine Hall.

Led by managing director Richard Wilkinson, Impact Media was established in January as the specialised outdoor media company of mobile media organisation Graffiti. Says Wilkinson "We look forward to making a huge impact on this market with our ground breaking, yet practical concepts, fast turnaround time and transparent approach."

"The two companies operate autonomously with Graffiti continuing to focus on vehicle branding and advertising opportunities. Impact Media will concentrate on bringing creative, innovative and highly-effective ideas and executions to large format outdoor advertising and installation art," he adds.

"The company will also introduce new impactful outdoor media, in order to satisfy this ever-growing market with increasing demand for high impact sites and fresh ideas."

According to Wilkinson, with the so-called 'billboard wars' heating up as a result of the significant growth experienced in recent years and as a pre-cursor to the Soccer World Cup in 2010, advertisers will begin demanding media partners who provide inventive and highly effective, large-format, out of home solutions that meet all necessary official requirements from inception.
