NEWSWATCH: Sowetan has been ordered to apologise to DA leader Helen Zille for an editorial it published on 28 January, reports IOL and, oh dear, the ANCYL is in a tizzy and wants Gareth Cliff fired after the Idols judge said that the youth of Limpopo are a no-talent bunch. Meanwhile, Channel24 and looklocal report 94.7 Highveld Stereo DJ Paul Rotherham was unexpectedly fired on Tuesday - but the question on many people's lips is... Why?

The ANCYL in turn has called for Cliff to be canned (they'd probably like to see him caned as well, for good measure) for what they say is "defocusing" the province's youth. ANCYL provincial secretary Jacob Lebogo is quoted as saying: "The future of young aspiring artists lies in the lazy hands of a madman." Hmmm... There are perhaps many people who reckon there's another bunch of youngsters whose future lies in the "lazy hands of a madman".
