Schools to compete for advertising bursaries

Between four and six top high schools in the greater Johannesburg area will compete for hundreds of thousands of rands in bursaries in the AAA School of Advertising inter-school challenge at the end of July.

Announcing the competition at the AAA School in Johannesburg, principal and MD Ludi Koekemoer says the bursaries are for each member of the winning team to study at the AAA School for three years. “The competition involves preparing a marketing strategy for a brand or service and an associated advertising campaign, based on the strategy.”

Each school will be represented by a team of up to six grade 12 learners: two must be strong in commercial subjects, two focused on art, and two strong on languages. “The teams will be briefed by an advertising agency on Friday 24 July and have the weekend of 25 & 26 July 2009 in which to build the strategy and the ad campaign,” says Koekemoer. “They will then present their entries to the judging panel, and the winners will be announced on the Sunday evening.”
