QS World MBA Tour returns to South Africa

The QS World MBA Tour returns to South Africa for its sixth consecutive year on Monday, 19 April 2010, 4pm-8pm at the Sandton Sun Hotel, Sandton, Johannesburg. The tour, which brings hundreds of business schools from around the world to 35 countries each year, was visited by 65 000 MBA candidates in 2009.

The Johannesburg fair provides MBA candidates with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the admissions officers and alumni of leading business schools as they shortlist the right school for their MBA studies. It is packed full of information on full-time, part-time and distance learning MBA programs, fees, admissions, scholarships, financial aid, the GMAT test and graduate MBA career opportunities. The Johannesburg fair also provides attendees with unique, free expert seminars and admission panels, allowing candidates to direct questions to a number of experts.

Entrepreneurship, social responsibility studies increasing

Entrepreneurship has become a major driving force for recession-era MBA candidates, according to the most thorough research on the subject. The 2010 tour features nine of the top ten schools in Europe that specialise in entrepreneurship, according to QS' annual survey of MBA employers.

A recent survey conducted from attendees of recent fairs including South Africa, reveals a steep increase in interest in schools specializing in entrepreneurship and with strong emphasis on social responsibility. In 2009, when asked their reasons for attending business schools, 30% of candidates selected entrepreneurship - a sizable increase of 5% from 2008. Meanwhile the number of candidates interested in social responsibility as a major impact on their selection almost doubled from the previous year.

Six of the top ten schools with expertise in social responsibility, based on the Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking published on www.TopMBA.com in Oct 2009, also travel with the QS Tour in 2010.
