Three WasteWise community facilitators Dawn Ehrenreich (Mitchell's Plain), Suerita Ernstzen (Bonteheuwel) and Mary Anne Richards (Retreat), each received gardening equipment, seedlings and compost for their gardens.
Susanne Dittke from the WasteWise Project Team and an IWMSA Western Cape member said, "These individuals were selected as they had all initiated and are still running either food or ornamental gardens that benefit the whole community. Through their gardens they are helping to secure local food supplies while pro-actively combating illegal dumping."
Melani Traut, chairperson of the IWMSA Western Cape, commended everyone for their involvement and efforts, "We are very proud to be involved in this initiative. It is important for us to contribute to the upliftment of our communities. CSI projects feature high on the institute's agenda and we are encouraging communities to get involved in these projects.
