    Fashion gets a new face

Nonhlanhla Gasa has been appointed as the new face of SA Fashion Week 2005 to represent its fresh approach to local fashion. Fashion Week 2005 takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre (Johannesburg) from 28-31 July 2005.

SAFW director and founder, Lucilla Booyzen, says: "Noni is a refreshing beauty with a unique sense of style and sassiness. It is without a doubt that she reflects a fresh, trendy, go-getting and uniquely South African identity that embodies the spirit of SA Fashion Week; a spirit that focuses on the 'Business of Fashion' - dedicated to the development of new design talent in South Africa. We are delighted and believe it is fitting that she represents us."

Gasa says: "SAFW is not just another excuse for fashionistas to 'ooh and aah'. SAFW has recognised the need to nurture and promote our indigenous identity - an attitude that screams 'We're proudly South African'. To be the face of this remarkable cultural platform and to fill the shoes of last year's SAFW Face, Charlize Theron, is simply an honour like no other."

The face of SAFW will be seen on all promotional material relating to the leading fashion event. She will also handle selected media interviews for the event, as well as presenting daily TV updates on the various elements of SAFW. The event is supported by Johannesburg Tourism, with travel sponsored by SAA. Southern Sun Inter-Continental is the event's accommodation partner.
