"East London and the Sunshine Coast tends to be a somewhat over-looked as a conference and leisure destination and together with the team at the African Bureau of Conventions, we aim to change that and secure high yield conventions that will have a positive economic impact on the city and other tourism related industries," says Samuel Nassimov, MD of the Premier Hotel group, which manages the precinct.

This membership is in keeping with the mandate of the ABC to grow its membership base to be fully inclusive of all key product owners based in South Africa and Africa, so that business tourism products represent the best that South Africa and Africa have to offer to international and national clients.

Having held a world boxing title fight and some major conventions, the ELICC has been nominated for a Business Travel Award 2010 by the international publication Business Destinations.

ELICC includes a 650-seater auditorium, an exhibition floor (taking up to 90 stands) and a major hall capable of seating 850 ball-room style and 2200 cinema-style as well as executive board-rooms, restaurants and kitchens. The adjacent 5-star Premier Hotel Cascades includes a spa, gym, swimming pool, restaurant, 260 rooms including suites, with free WiFi internet connections.
