Each category consists of 5 nominees and it's up to the people readers to choose the nominees, as well as the winners in each category. This year's awards included five new categories - namely The Best Female and Male Newcomer categories, Best TV Talk Show Host, Best Local Series/Soap and Best Ensemble Cast in a Soap/Series. As with previous years, the awards received extensive television coverage on Top Billing, Nightlife, Yo.TV, and the Go Channel on DStv.
