Tony Vaughan, MD of Media Nova, publishers of The Property Magazine, said Sandton will have an initial print run of 30 000. This includes 15 000 copies hand-delivered to Sandton's finest homes and apartments and another 7 500 distributed to Sandton hotel rooms, services and businesses. The balance will be sold nationally at select retail outlets.

Sandton follows the established ‘city magazine' genre, a proven model in the American publishing industry with city-specific titles in more than a hundred of its leading urban and suburban markets.

“The future of publishing is niche coupled with performance-based distribution,” says Vaughan. “What we've learned by publishing The Property Magazine over the past four years is that there's always space for precisely targeted, high-quality niche titles that combine finely tuned editorial components and performance-related distribution models.”

Says Talotta, “Editorially, we're looking forward to exploring the issues and topics that Sandtonians discuss around their dinner tables and braais. But we won't be shrill and alarmist about things. Rather, I want gritty ‘real life' Sandton issues explored in depth by leading journalists who are experts in their fields. But we won't just reflect society and its concerns. The grittier heart of the publication will be balanced by gloss as Sandton is the preferred address for some of Africa's most dedicated shoppers, diners, home renovators and travellers – the societal, business and cultural mavens and audiences who define the ‘good life' in SA. Sandton's design and editorial elements have been custom-designed accordingly. We have a lot of editorial tricks up our sleeve, each designed to inject differentiating X-factors into the title's DNA.”
