Marketing and Research for Africa - An online industry resource

An honest, controversial and hard hitting industry publication is hard to find with publishers trying to please both readers and advertisers. The Marketing and Research for Africa website (www.research.za.net) is the industry must read for those in the marketing and research industries as well as in the wider corporate market.

Marketing and Research for Africa is a website geared to keeping the industry and interested parties on its toes by providing news, views and unflinching opinions of industry related issues.

"We felt that there was a need for a website that addressed marketing and research and that provided a forum for individuals and companies to express their views. We encourage our subscribers to make use of our forum and polls and we welcome papers from marketers, researchers and advertisers that we can make available to our readers - thus we create a pool of resources for the industry," says Jean Green, industry doyenne and power behind Marketing and Research for Africa.

"The industry response has been overwhelming - we have remarkably high traffic through the site and the research industry has been quick to use our services (including our company listing service which puts advertising within the reach of even the smallest practitioner)," says Jean.

"News on the site is updated daily - if there is appropriate news to run. The idea is to provide a digest of news that our subscribers can access to find marketing and research news without having to trawl through a number of different sites," explains webmaster Mike Green. The site was designed by Mike who designed the first South African Marketing Research Association (SAMRA) website.

"We are about to launch a new site design and have an exciting project up our sleeves for early in 2004, so watch this space!" concludes Mike.

Jean Green has been in the marketing research industry for the past 40 years and is an honorary life member of SAMRA and a full member of the Market Research Society of Great Britain. She served on the SAMRA Council over many years and now runs qualitative training courses.
