EPNET appointed to manage the ‘Kimberley Process’ website

South African Internet company, EPNET, has been commissioned by the Canadian Government to manage the Kimberley Process website. The 'Kimberley Process' is an international government initiative aimed at breaking the link between legitimate trade in diamonds and conflict diamonds.

Conflict diamonds are rough diamonds used by rebel movements or their allies to finance conflict aimed at undermining legitimate governments and have been attributed as the cause of much misery and suffering around the world and particularly here in Africa.

Gordon Barker, Internet Strategist in charge of the project says, "Although the subject is very serious, we chose to keep the design light and friendly and make the topics covered on the website easy to navigate. This strategy has obviously worked as we have seen a 210% increase in page impressions over the past six months. We have also seen many members of the international media access the website for news and updates on this initiative". Gordon states further that the appointment by the Canadian Government was really great for them as it proves that EPNET is internationally competitive.

"We approach all our projects as lifetime partnerships and not just an initial development and I think it is this philosophy that makes for successful websites", he concludes.
