The board members of Variety Club, which is one of 54 Variety Clubs worldwide, believe that raising money for worthwhile causes can be combined with exceptional entertainment and have put their weight behind the project. Concerts are to be held in Johannesburg on 28 August and in Cape Town on 30 August. The "performance privée" banquet will be held on 27 August 2002 at Carnival City.
Sponsoring the Dionne Warwick Tour are Variety Club Board members Sun International and Carnival City, SAA and Standard Bank. Dionne Warwick, who earlier this year performed at the 50th Anniversary of Variety Club in London, agreed to launch her 40th Anniversary Tour in South Africa and raise funds for a cause that is close to her heart.

All proceeds of the evening will be used to establish four Child Abuse Rescue Centres throughout the country."
