    Ifra extends Russian press partnership

DARMSTADT, GERMANY: Ifra has extended its partnership with the Russian organisation Guild of Press Publishers (GIPP), the global association for newspaper and media publishing announced yesterday, Tuesday, 13 February 2007. One of the key elements is the IfraForum, to take place at the Publishing Expo in the Moscow World Trade Centre, 18 - 20 June 2007.

The aim of the IfraForum is to provide a platform for the exchange between newspaper and magazine publishers and suppliers to the industry. It consists of special conference contributions tailored by Ifra to the Russian market on topics such as newsroom/Newsplex, distribution/circulation and printing technology. There will also be a limited number of exhibition stands showing the latest developments in technology.

Explains Reiner Mittelbach, Ifra CEO: “We are proud to be teaming up with GIPP to offer Russian publishers know-how and development opportunities. With the increasing conversion to colour printing, new formats and the trend to convergence, the Russian media market is of growing importance to suppliers, too.”

Julia Kazakova, GIPP executive director, comments: “It is a great honour for GIPP to become Ifra’s official partner in Russia. We have already been in co-operation for many years and now came to agreement on a wide scope of joint activities in the years to come, aiming to promote Ifra’s outstanding resources and knowledge base within the Russian publishing community. This programme will be announced and presented to our industry at the Moscow Publishing Expo & Conference 2007 next June.”

In addition to the IfraForum at the Publishing Expo 2007, Ifra is planning study tours for Russian publishers to successful newspaper publishers working in accordance with the Newsplex philosophy in Denmark, UK and Germany.

Another element will be the opening of an Ifra office in Moscow later this year, organising group travel to international Ifra events, such as Beyond the Printed Word or IfraExpo, and functioning as the gateway to Ifra services. Furthermore, an extended range of Ifra membership services will be installed specifically targeted to Russian publishers.
