The Loerie Awards 2007 News South Africa

Final Loeries programme!

My legs are still hairy and my selftan still blotchy, but hopefully I, along with the rest of the 5000 or so descending on Margate for the industry party of the year (and some awards with bird-like statues, Loeries or something) will be beach-ready by Friday, 27 July 2007! To ensure you remember everything and don't have to plead pathetically with the organisers to find you a toothbrush, ticket, date for the night, etc, here's your final checklist and party schedule!

From a beach after party sponsored by SABC with bands like the Spoonfeeders live, Gang of Instrumentals and agency DJ's Sunday, to paper aeroplane competitions, ‘boeries at the Loeries' for those with the munchies after the Loerie awards nights, the interagency battle of the bands, and the Heat Afterglow party – it's going to be an action-packed weekend of fun, sun, beach sports, beauty competitions, dancers, fire eaters, lots of free drinks and a great time to let your hair down, or get a Margate mullet special!

Here's a checklist of important reminders – you also need something fabulous for the first night, Saturday 28 July, for the print Loerie awards etc, and something vintage glam for the last awards night for the broadcast media Loeries etc, Sunday, 29 July.

A friendly check list before you head out for the Loeries festival weekend:

  • Remember to bring your Ticketconnection ticket with you! No ticket, no show!
  • The awards start with pre-drinks at 4:30pm on Saturday and Sunday – get there early for free drinks! No entry to the venue will be allowed after 6:30pm – please ensure you arrive on time.
  • Everyone must register prior to the awards ceremony. Registration is at the Margate Hotel and is open throughout the weekend.
  • There is no parking at the awards venue. Parking is available at registration at the Margate Hotel and you will be able to walk or catch a shuttle to the awards venue.
  • The bar will be open at the awards venue, with live music and DJs from 4:30pm, and for one hour after the awards. There will be no bar facility during the awards. The awards show on both evenings will be two hours with no intermission.
  • A full programme and information package will be provided at registration; for additional information go to httpwww.theloerieawards.co.za/festival/calender/.

Now you know everything you need to know for the Loeries Festival Weekend.

And a final comment from The Loerie Awards MD, Andrew Human, who is driving down to Margate today, boot stuffed with a treasure chest of Gold, Silver and Grand Prix Loeries: “The waves are roaring, the beaches shifting restlessly, and the stars are shining bright – and we await our guests with much excitement and anticipation.”
