BaByDO 2003 - supporting young advertising talent

Berrybush BBDO is running a second programme of BaByDO to give young talent in the Western Cape a chance to experience the advertising industry first-hand.

Following the successful launch of BaByDO in 2002, a young talent scouting programme which also gives young people the opportunity to experience the advertising industry first-hand, Berry Bush BBDO is running a second programme and invites enthusiastic young people in the Western Cape to become part of their team for a week in March and April of this year.

Berry Bush BBDO's first BaByDO team on the programme in December 2002 was given the agencies Hunter's brand and a wide open brief to, "sell more Hunter's." After working on the brand for a week they presented their campaign to Hunter's Brand Manager, Andrew Smith. "I was very impressed with the creativity shown. I think that it is great to get people with no 'product baggage' to work on the brand as we sometimes get too close to what we are doing and seldom put our consumer hats on and think like them," says Smith. "We are in fact looking at incorporating some of their ideas into our planning for this year", he added.

"This was an excellent opportunity for us to experience all the elements involved in advertising a brand, while also having the full resource of the agency and it's satellite companies available to us", said Annie Davies, one of the first BaByDO 'babies'. "The idea of BaByDO is fantastic', she added.

"The BaByDO week held last December produced exactly the sort of results we'd hoped for, ideas that were single-minded, fresh and provocative. What's more, the best ideas were not only simple and effective conceptually but are also easy to execute," says Creative Director of Berry Bush BBDO, Errol Denman.
