Toasting 10 years of 'eating out'

The 10th anniversary issue of EAT OUT magazine, South Africa's leading restaurant guide, will hit the news stands on 26 November 2007. The glossy annual publication will provide restaurant lovers with a list of South Africa's EAT OUT Top 10 Restaurants, as well as an independently reviewed selection of 800 of the finest restaurants in the country.

With celebrated editor Abigail Donnelly at the helm, EAT OUT is published by New Media, the creators of the EAT OUT Restaurant Awards. EAT OUT 2008 will be launched at the glittering Cirque Culinaire themed EAT OUT Restaurant Awards, widely regarded as South Africa's very own 'Food Oscars', which will take place in Cape Town at The Rotunda at The Bay Hotel on 25 November 2007 - the night before the magazine goes on sale.

Ensuring that the choice of restaurants listed in the EAT OUT magazine remains credible and beyond reproach, Donnelly's team of 30 reviewers, review hundreds of restaurants countrywide. They thereafter make their recommendations for listings in the EAT OUT guide, as well as nominations for the EAT OUT awards.

Donnelly, assisted by four highly-respected members of the culinary industry in South Africa, then select a shortlist of 20 restaurants for the final judging process, individually visiting each of the short-listed restaurants before the EAT OUT TOP 10 is finally selected.

Donnelly's vision for EAT OUT magazine is to continue striving to improve the experience of the restaurant-going public by providing honest and credible reviews as well as by bestowing awards that have been judged fairly by a highly-acclaimed panel of experts who share her passion.

Not only a user-friendly reference guide, EAT OUT 2008 is a great read too, with some of the award-winning EAT OUT chefs and restaurateurs from the past decade giving the lowdown on everything from the latest food trends, to the phenomenal global growth of the Green Scene. Read what they think about Tasting Menus, and their views on the art of matching food and wine. Ultimately, EAT OUT 2008 aims to provide the restaurant-going public with everything it needs to make an informed, enlightened choice to enjoy the very best that the SA restaurant scene has to offer.

The magazine will go on sale at a cover price of R39.95.
