When the company was launched, one part-time sales person in Cape Town made most of the sales. Today the product is sold throughout Southern Africa with a large administrative, sales and marketing force.

The brand is not only involved in providing a wide range of beauty products to the market, but also has a social conscience and a significant social investment programme in place. Its slogan, which encapsulates the philosophy of the company, states, "It's not what we do that makes a difference; it's the legacy we leave behind for others to follow for years into the future, fulfilling their potential and their dreams."

Says MD, Justin Hewett, "The selling of cosmetics is the tool, but the growth of people is the objective." The vision is to empower thousands of women in South Africa by creating a quality range of skin care and beauty products that is sold through direct selling.

Truck stop

The Avroy Shlain Theatre Truck will undertake a nationwide tour, which will kick off in Cape Town on 25 May. There will be interactive space, from which it will offer makeovers, give people a chance to interact with the products, provide product information, advice on business and recruit those who wish to start earning a living by selling the products. The Theatre Truck will also present business opportunities, which may help change a life.

Sangqu will be travelling to the major centres around the country in the interactive Theatre Truck and offering a morning lecture in major areas on the subject of "Confidence." Topics will include what women need and want, and how best to thrive and not just survive. This will be linked to the sales drive and form an integral part of the commitment to empowering women and promoting entrepreneurship.

New logo, new building

The event will also give the company a chance to launch its new logo with a bold and modern look, keeping the signature and colour which symbolises the energy that goes into its products and promotions and a special commemorative logo for its 40th birthday.

The birthday celebrations, which will be rolled out throughout South Africa, in the ensuing months, also incorporates the company's move to a new building and will involve driving entrepreneurship, implementing its CSI programme and motivating and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs.
