Green light for Menlyn Maine

Menlyn Maine, described as the first connected green city in Africa, will have its infrastructural installations such as water, electricity, sewage and communications completed by end of January 2010, with the first building construction starting in February 2010.

This major, groundbreaking mixed-use development is located in the Pretoria Menlyn node and is accessed via two off ramps from the N1 and the Gautrain system via the Rapid Bus Link at Centurion Station.

It has 143 000m² of office space, 44 000m² of retail and 100 000m² of residential and hotel space, as well as some 5700m² of scenic parklands with indigenous landscaping. The developers, Menlyn Maine Investment Holdings, a partnership of Ice Finance, Equity Estates, GP Property Investment Holdings, Nedbank and Absa Bank has taken up the retail component and has also already secured the lease of buildings to government as well as a leading financial institution. Pam Golding Commercial (PGC) is now marketing mostly office accommodation to let and a limited supply of sectional title space ranging from 300m² in size, which is available for purchase.

"Given the convenient location of the development, coupled with the highly desirable environment, this project has extremely high appeal for companies and enterprises right across the business sector,” comments Thys Greeff, leasing, sales and investment broker for PGC. “Now that we are marketing commercial space we are receiving enquiries from interested tenants that represent a broad range of diverse operations, including professionals."
