The executive director of the newly established Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis at Imperial College London, Allen will be part of a panel of distinguished local speakers debating the issue: 'Does financial regulation thwart moral hazard?'. The forum is hosted by UCT's African Institute of Financial Markets and Risk Management (AIFMRM).

AIFMRM is focused on research and delivering postgraduate education and training in financial markets and risk management in an African context. "The financial crisis has made it uncomfortably clear that how our financial system takes risk, manages risk, and transfers risk is inconsistent, and needs to be fundamentally rethought. We are very pleased to have a world-renowned finance and risk expert like Professor Allen talk to us and discuss financial stability, especially in a South African and African context," founding director Associate Professor David Taylor says.
