The first record the brand aims to make is for the longest boerewors ever braaied to the length of a whopping 1km. The second record could get even more entertaining, as thousands of people try to sauce the kilometer of boerewors in a mere three minutes.
The record-breaking braai has been dreamt up by All Gold, and will take place happening on 9 November at Fourways Crossing Shopping Centre in Johannesburg.
It's going to need thousands of people to sauce the giant boerewors, but the hungry record-busters won't be limited to tomato sauce. All Gold offers a wide range of other flavors too - Hot and Spicy Tomato Sauce, Mustard, Barbeque Sauce, 1000 Islands, Peri-Peri, Sweet Chilli, Garlic & HerbMild Chilli and Very Chilli hot sauces. Braaing a kilometer of wors weighing 1.3 tons will be a picnic compared to deciding what sauce to dress it with.
All Gold was certainly on a roll when it devised this idea, but the logistics behind the attempt are amazing. Cooking this much meat is an achievement in itself with weeks of planning that could all go up in smoke if the delicate boerewors snaps. The wors will start out at 1.1km, calculated to allow the shrinkage that will result in just over 1km of cooked boerie.
A master-butcher along with some of SAs favorite celebs have been recruited to create the whopper, binding several lengths of boerie casings together to make one mammoth piece of meat. It will be driven to Fourways Crossing Shopping Centre in a refrigerated truck and carefully unloaded onto a custom-made braai designed specifically for this South African Record attempt, with 52 braai bases welded together.
All Gold has assembled a team of thirteen well-seasoned braai masters and 30 assistants to man the 32m long braai. Thirteen expert fire starters and stokers will also be in the line of fire to ensure the heat is just right.
Once the wors is cooked, it will be cut into pieces, put into rolls, and handed to the guests. MC Azania Mosaka will lead a countdown in the condiments area stocked with litres of delicious All Gold sauces. Then everyone has three minutes to 'sauce up' their boeries and claim a new South African record!
SA Book of Records will be the official adjudicator, to make sure that the marathon piece of meat and the saucy antics of our supporters are officially recorded and confirmed.
