Halaal certification withdrawn from Parmalat

According to South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA), it will no longer certify Parmalat yoghurts and these will no longer carry the SANHA approval logo as the brand has now introduced a gelatine stabilizer derived from non-Halaal slaughtered animals.

It is noted that notwithstanding the high cost of guaranteed Halaal yoghurt stabilizer, Parmalat had complied with SANHA's requirements since October 2000 and were accordingly awarded SANHA certification.

The following yoghurt brands continue to be certified Halaal by SANHA:

2. Best Buy Cheese Company (Pty) Ltd - Stikland, Cape Town
3. Clarabells Dairy - Walkerville, GP
4. Dairy World - Tshwane, GP
5. Far End Dairy - Mooi River, KZN
6. Gauteng Dairy - Roodepoort, GP
7. Honeydew Dairies (Pty) Ltd - Mooiriver, KZN
8. Lausanne Dairies - Killarney Gardens CPT
9. Oakspring Farms -KZN (Yoghurts, Drinking Yoghurts)
10. Orange Grove Dairies - Dundee, KZN
11. Sonnendal Dairies - Athlone Industria II, Cape Town
12. Stonelees Dairies - Lions River, KZN
13. Wesmelk Melkery - Setlagole, NWP
