Tunisian telecommunications boosted

Nokia Siemens Networks is to expand fixed access networks for Tunisie Telecom in Ennasr, Jardin du Lac and the Kheireddine industrial zone.

Nokia Siemens Networks has signed an agreement with Tunisie Telecom, the country's leading operator, offering all telecommunication services to residential, business and mobile subscribers. The agreement will extend Nokia Siemens Networks™ services to the areas of Ennasr, Jardin du Lac and Kheireddine.

The company aims at tapping on three of the most inhabited cities in Tunisia to provide them with its top-of-the-line xDSL technology, becoming one of the leading network suppliers for Tunisie Telecom.

The deal underscores the company's continuing commitment to the deployment of low-cost broadband Internet access to further enhance broadband coverage, while making optimal use of the existing infrastructure already in place.

The extension will see the adoption of the MSAN Surpass HiX solution which will be integrated into the TDM-based shelters. This technology will enable broadband access for residential customers and thus accelerate the cost-effective introduction and provision of value added services.

The MSAN Platform has a high bandwidth flexibility that delivers Triple Play services. Such services include voice, data and video offerings providing new opportunities to operators, such as Tunisie Telecom, for generating new revenue out of their existing wire line infrastructure.
