Top athletes join the Puma stable

Puma South Africa has expanded its running stable with the inclusion of distance runner Yolande Maclean, track and field athletes Jeremiah Motsau and Ransto Mokopane, and twins Lebo and Lebogang Phalula...

"It is with excitement that we welcome five of South Africa's finest athletes to the Puma family. Our new ambassadors mirror our brand direction of ForeverFaster and we look forward to seeing them break new records on the field, road and track in our premium technical Puma athletic gear," said Puma South Africa's Marketing Director, Brett Bellinger.

For five consecutive years, Yolande Maclean was placed in the Top 10 in the world's largest and oldest ultra marathon, the Comrades Ultra Marathon. Maclean also secured a first-place victory in this year's Wally Hayward Marathon, finishing in two hours and 56 minutes, and hopes to compete in the full Iron Man next year.

Outstanding results

Mokopane and Motsau have achieved outstanding results in track and field with Mokopane achieving a Silver Medal in the 1500-metre sprint at the SA Senior Championships, and Motsau claiming a Gold Medal in the 1500-metre sprint in the 2014 and a Bronze in the 2015 SA Championships.

Puma is also adding twins to the mix with two of South Africa's top female athletes, Lebo and Lebogang Phalula, who have their sights set on qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games. The duo are about to commence their track and field training sessions with a few marathons slotted in, 'just for fun', explained Lebogang.

Lebo Phalula takes great inspiration from the World's Fastest Man, Usain Bolt. "I want to be one of the top athletes to run in the 2016 Olympics. I am excited that I will be representing in the same brand as Usain Bolt and hope to break a few records myself".
