Retail group makes the ‘Top Ten'

It's the second time New Clicks Holdings has been a participant in the Deloitte Best Company to Work For survey, now in its eighth year. But NCH has moved from an overall position of 93 last year to one of the Top Ten this year, in the large company category.

Deloitte introduced three new awards this year, assessed according to the size of the company as measured by the number of employees: small company category (50 - 300 employees), medium company category (301 - 2500 employees), and large company category (2 501 + employees).

"A top ten ranking is great affirmation that we are getting things right. Not only are we outperforming ourselves in the financial sector, but internally as well," says David Kneale, CEO of New Clicks Holdings. "There have been many changes over the past year and this is a very positive indication that employee satisfaction is high."

The Deloitte's survey involved 700 group employees, all of whom where randomly selected.

David Conradie, principal for Human Capital at Deloitte says, "Since the survey was introduced in 2000, we have strived to ensure that it remains relevant to the full spectrum of our target participant population and we have achieved this via a process of ongoing consultation with current and previous participating companies."

Judging criteria include management of gender, race and job level issues, and companies that have succeeded in are those that have successfully come to terms with the challenges of managing a diverse workforce characterised by ever-changing employee expectations, the Deloitte Group said in a statement.
