Said Herron: "The decline of Cape Town’s passenger rail system is well documented. We have now reached a crisis point where the service is at risk of a total collapse. Ailing infrastructure, lack of investment, and the ongoing sabotage and vandalism of the rail infrastructure have displaced hundreds of thousands of commuters to road-based public transport.
"We cannot sit back and let this situation continue indefinitely. Tomorrow I will share with the public how the City intends to rescue this indispensable strategic asset."
