RSAWEB launches Windows Cloud servers in SA

Local internet service provider, RSAWEB, has announced the availability of version two of the RSAWEB Cloud now with Microsoft Windows. The company pioneered cloud technology in South Africa with the launch of the RSAWEB Cloud in May 2010, and customers have since deployed more than 1,250 Linux servers on the platform.

This launch presented South Africans with the first true cloud hosting platform allowing users to deploy and provision fully operational Linux servers in seconds.

Mark Slingsby, technical director of RSAWEB says: "We have seen an unprecedented demand for our Linux Cloud servers, but Microsoft Windows still remains the most requested feature. We've gone through several months of extensive trial and testing internally, and we're very excited to finally release Microsoft Windows on the platform."

The technology behind RSAWEB Cloud Servers allows users to buy Linux or Microsoft Windows servers from the web with full control over the server resources and operating system. CPU, RAM and SAN storage can be added to servers on the fly as usage or demand requirements change.

"Our strategy has always been to ultimately build everything around our cloud - by owning our own infrastructure, data centres and building a national MPLS network, we are able to bundle and adapt products that best meet South African customer demands. With the addition of Windows Cloud Servers, we are now able to service the majority of the server market," says Slingsby.
