Global business challenge offers exciting opportunities for students

Business students have the opportunity to gain global exposure and learn valuable skills for the future courtesy of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants' (CIMA) Global Business Challenge (GBC).

The 2012 CIMA GBC is an international business management competition open to full time undergraduates of public and private colleges and universities who are ideally from a business or finance background. The competition is designed to bring out the best in potential young business leaders. It provides students with a great opportunity to test the depth of their financial knowledge and expand upon their competitive ability.

Winners will fly to Sri Lanka

Each team will be expected to analyse, report and present on a CIMA case study. The winning team from each region will be flown to the global final in Sri Lanka on 21 and 22 July 2012 to compete against 21 other regions for the title of global champions.

Samantha Louis, regional director of CIMA Southern Africa, said: "In the past, South African students have done exceptionally well. Last year they reached the finals at global level and we look forward to seeing how well our future talent does in this competition."

Team Scions from the Philippines were crowned champions at the 2011 global final held in Chengdu, China. The team beat nearly 9 000 international student applicants and presented to over 700 guests before being assessed by a panel of industry expert judges from organisations across the globe to emerge as the winning team.

Students can register until 16 March 2012. To enter for the competition, log onto www.cimaglobal.com/gbc2012.
