Petrol price to drop 5c-6c per litre

The retail price of petrol 93 ULP & LRP will drop by 6 cents per litre while the retail price of petrol 95 ULP & LRP will fall by 5c per litre on Wednesday next week, the department of energy said on Thursday.

The price of diesel with 0.05% sulphur content will decrease by 21 cents a litre. That with 0.005% sulphur content will fall by 20 cents a litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will drop by 25 cents a litre.

The single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will decrease by 33 cents a litre, the department added.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased.

The average rand/US Dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period. The average rand/US$ exchange rate for the period under review was 8.2122 compared with 8.1398 during the previous period.

The retail price of petrol 95 ULP will cost 1,061 cents a litre in Gauteng and 1,031 cents a litre at the coast, while the wholesale price of diesel with 0.05% sulphur content will be 1,027.69 a litre in Gauteng and 1,007.29 cents a litre at the coast.
