The leading international travel publication, Travel + Leisure annually embarks on a global survey amongst readers to identify the top destinations, hotels, airlines, car rental companies, cruise liners, river cruises, spas and safari outfitters.

Owned and managed by Newmark Hotels, the historical Victoria & Alfred Hotel has held its own against illustrious competition in the region. A prestigious notch on the belt of Newmark Hotels, who makes a debut onto the Travel + Leisure Best Awards with the Victoria & Alfred Hotel's nomination this year as one of only five of the finest hotels in Cape Town to make the list.

The landmark building, built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse, was converted into a luxury hotel in 1990. Named in honour of the Queen of England and her son who visited the Cape in 1870 when Prince Alfred officially opened the Breakwater Basin - today's V & A Waterfront - The Victoria & Alfred Hotel still captures this distinct history.
