The Cape Milner revamp a perfect mix of Cape Victorian, urban African design

Known for its pleasant charm and contemporary-chic appeal, The Cape Milner Hotel recently undertook the task of refurbishing the property's ten luxury rooms and bistro area, combining a mixture of Cape Victorian heritage with splashes of urban African design.

Each of the ten recently refurbished luxury rooms provides guests with a comfortable and spacious home-away-from-home environment, with warm textures, white linen and modern décor.

The new additions have been specifically designed to create an atmosphere for guests to relax and unwind in a modern yet chic setting. The hotel features double glazing on the first and second floor Table Mountain facing rooms, allowing for reduced traffic noise from the road below. The breakfast buffet has been revamped to showcase a modern dining-come-bistro offering, with inclusions such as state-of-the-art induction powered chaffing dishes to new counters, lighting and décor.

Natasha Powell, general manager of the hotel commented on the upgrade of the soft furnishings, which brings the rooms right up to date with the contemporary but sophisticated look of the rest of the hotel. “The rooms were basically gutted and completely redecorated – everything is new, from the beds to the curtains to the carpets to the artworks. We’re really happy with the new look and feel of the rooms, which are the perfect mix of urban, modern, fun and warm.”

Cape Town-based interior designer, Beth Murray, has been behind the fresh designs and modern accents to the hotel’s recent refurbishment for the past ten years, having designed the famous Glass Lounge and refurbishing all the standard rooms and suites in the hotel. “The Cape Milner’s style is constantly developing, and it is fantastic to be part of this ever-changing experience. I’m constantly on the lookout for designs that truly speak to the style and nature of the hotel,” said Murray.
