A-G's office owed R400-million by government

The Auditor-General is owed more than R400-million by various municipalities and government departments because they have failed to pay for completed audits according to City Press.

It says that municipalities owed the Auditor-General R167-million and provincial governments have unpaid audit fees of R107-million.

The Auditor-General's Terence Nombembe says that legal action has been instituted against local authorities in North West, Northern Cape and Free State but so far only R13-million has been collected.
