2oceansvibe Radio announces highest monthly listenership

2oceansvibe Radio has announced it's highest monthly listenership in the last year, with more than 30 000 downloads of the mobile streaming app at a time when national FM stations are declining gradually.

Measured statistics have confirmed a daily listenership of 15 000 to 2oceansVibe Radio. This converts into a weekly listenership of 18 000 unique people and a total monthly listenership of 25 000 upwardly mobile high-LSM people tuning-in to the digital radio station during November 2011, and 88 percent of people tuning in for the first time return as regular listeners.

While these figures are certainly lower than FM stations, it is interesting to note that 2oceansvibe Radio's online listenership is higher than the online listenership of most of SA's biggest FM radio stations, including Cape Town's biggest radio station, as well as its AM talk-radio offering.

The station claims that, given the choice, people in this lifestyle segment prefer this type of offering: radio that they understand, with DJs and ads and call-ins from people they can actually relate to.

With today's movers and shakers and opinion leaders not able to tune in to FM radio at home and work, the car is the only place this lifestyle segment does listen to FM radio.

In terms of the all-important listening time, 2oceansvibe Radio has an average listening time of 2 hours 28 minutes, which is in comparison to many of the big FM stations, whose average listener time is often as low as 20 minutes.

2oceansvibe Radio's new Johannesburg studio is launching in January/February, 2012, in Melrose Arch.
