LNN gets Emmy nomination

The South African news parody show, Late Nite News, has been nominated for an international Emmy award by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The show, which is presented by comedian Loyiso Gola and which is currently in its eighth season, has been nominated in the comedy category of the award ceremony's global competition.

"Every year, the global television community competes for an Emmy, the most prestigious of all media awards, and we congratulate the 2013 nominees for their outstanding programs and performances," said Bruce Paisner, the president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Gola has graced the stages of all the major festivals and events on local comedy calendars and has performed internationally at the Edinburgh Festival, in New York and Dubai. From humble beginnings performing with the Cape Comedy Collective on the Cape Town comedy circuit "while he was still at school", he has evolved into performing all over the South Africa in addition to his television, radio and big screen appearances.
