Cape Town artists to support Imogen Heap

It has been announced that "progressive" musician Yoav will support Heap's Johannesburg leg, while D7 will be supporting her Cape Town shows. Both support acts will perform Heap's hit song, Earth, with her.

Cape Town-born singer/songwriter Yoav was gigging in New York City when he began developing an interest in electronic music and the club/dance culture that surrounded it. He was intrigued by the challenge of infusing his more traditional singer/songwriter compositions with this electronic vibe and, in the process, developed a more rhythmic, percussive way of playing the guitar and writing his music.

Yoav moved to the UK in 2006, where he eventually signed with the label Field Recordings.

All-male group

The all-male group D7 (you guessed it, there are seven of them) are also from The Mother City, and perform a funky, sassy mix of a'capella and beatboxing.

D7 offer fresh interpretations of the classic, all-gold sounds of artists such as Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, The Chiffons and The Temptations, whilst also taking on more contemporary sounds, such as those of Coldplay and Goldfish.

Sold-out shows

"We've been delighted with the public response to the tour," said Charl van Heyningen, the show's promoter. "Both the Cape Town shows are sold out, and the first Joburg show (January 29) has been sold out, leaving only a few seats for Ms Heap's show on the 30th."
