Women's Celebration Charity Gala Concert

9 August 1956 was a momentous day in the history of South Africa, as over 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the pass laws that proposed further restrictions on the movements of women. 53 years on, the Ekhuruleni Metropolitan Municipality, SABC 2, Carnival City and Famous Concerts have joined forces to celebrate this landmark occasion with a prestigious Women's Day Celebration Concert on 27 August.

This glamorous occasion will feature performances by some of South Africa's top female vocalists, including the legendary Emmy Award-winning Letta Mbulu, jazz diva Judith Sephuma, highly-acclaimed Nianell, fresh young talent Siphokazi, top-seller Louise Carver and Idols judge Mara Louw. Stand-up comedian Trevor Noah will host the show - and no doubt have concert-goers in stitches between the majestic performances of our 6 divas!

Apart from the superb musical entertainment on offer, the concert also offers concert-goers an additional opportunity to indulge in a sumptuous 3-course meal. Tables seating 10 people are on sale for R4400 excl VAT to help make this magical evening even more special.

Whether enjoying the music, or taking in dinner as well, concert-goers will be contributing to a very worthy cause! Ekhuruleni Mayor Lentheng Mekgwe has committed a generous donation from the proceeds of the event to a Women's Charity of her choice and promised that it will be one that continues to advance the empowerment of women.

The event will be hosted at Carnival City's Big Top Arena on Thursday 27 August at 20:00. Concert tickets are available at Computicket and are priced between R165 and R195. Tables of 10 for dinner (incl a 3-course meal) can be purchased for R4400.00 excl VAT by calling 073 169 9617.
