Remix dance company on the move

As the first and one of the longest-standing integrated dance companies in the country, Remix has recently furthered its artistic philosophy of always going one step further by bidding farewell to its interim home at the Baxter Theatre.

The move is set to provide further accessibility to both audiences and differently-abled artists alike, made possible by its continued partnership with Youngblood Africa Culture Development. Remix will continue to perform work on professional and mainstream dance platforms, seeking to produce tenderly choreographed, innovative productions and collaborations that recognise people of all physical abilities. Local audiences can also now look forward to performances at the newly established Beautifull Life building in Bree Street, Cape Town.

Highlights

"It's certainly been a wonderfully busy and fulfilling year for Remix," reflects Remix artistic director, Malcolm Black. "There's been the tremendous success of Lovaffair and our performances at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival, the prestigious BASA award and more recently, Remix's Freedom to Create shortlisting from over 2000 international entries. We are also busy with short performances at community centres and care organisations as part of a regular end-of-year festive season line-up and our on-going commitment to educate and intrigue."

Next year's highlights for Remix look set to include two captivating new productions as well as international performances at the Birmingham International Dance Festival and London's South Bank Theatre.
