Two Audis win ‘Sports Car of the Year 2009'

The Audi TT RS has been chosen ‘Sports Car of the Year 2009' in the production coupe class and the R8 5.2 FSI has won the supercar title.

In addition, Audi's S5 Cabriolet, the RS 6, the S4 Avant, and the Q7 V12 TDI were each placed in the top five in their respective classes.

The prizes were presented at the recent Essen Motor Show.

The title ‘Sports Car of the Year' is one of the most sought-after prizes in the German automobile industry.

The Audi TT RS Coupé is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine with petrol direct injection that generates a power output of 250 kW and a torque of 450 Nm.

In conjunction with quattro permanent all-wheel drive and a high-performance chassis, the five-cylinder engine makes the compact Audi TT RS an exceptional sports car.

The R8 5.2 FSI blasts out 386 kW and 530 Nm of torque from its 5.2-litre, ten-cylinder engine. This awesome power combines with quattro all-wheel drive, a lightweight aluminium space frame chassis, razor sharp steering and unbelievable roadholding to place it in pole position in this competitive field.
