Gourmet evening at Bosman's

A Gourmet Evening is being held at the award-winning Bosman's Restaurant, at the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl, Saturday, 17 October 2009. It is being hosted by David Trafford from the De Trafford Wine Estate.

The boutique wine estate is set on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains between Stellenbosch and Somerset West and prides itself on its hand-crafted wines.

Under the hand of executive chef Roland Gorgosilich, who has worked in top Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, guests will be assured of an unforgettable food and wine experience at Grande Roche, a hotel that has been singled out as one of the world's top dining destinations.

Bosman's has also recently been honoured with the Best of Award of Excellence 2009 by Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world, put together by the Grande Roche head sommelier, Tobias Brauweiler, one of only a handful of qualified wine sommeliers in South Africa.

Five-course gastronomic dinner

The Gourmet Evening on 17 October includes a five-course gastronomic dinner with wines especially selected for each course by David Trafford, who started De Trafford Winery in 1992 after working in St.Emilion, Bordeaux, for the 1989 harvest season and “seeing how easy making great wine is”.

Trafford said: “Our winemaking philosophy was initially informed by this attention to detail in the vineyard and minimal interference in the winemaking process - that being minimal sulphur additions, no yeast or added acid and no filtration.”

The 2009 Platter Guide gave five stars to De Trafford's Shiraz and CWG Perspective red and four-and-a-half stars to the Cabernet Sauvignon and Elevation 393 red blend and Chenin Blanc Straw dessert wine.

The price for each Bosman's Gourmet Experience is R680 per person.
