Artisanal Cheese Fair to be held in Cape Town

The Say Cheese! Artisan Cheese Fair will celebrate all things cheese on 24 and 25 September, 2016, at the Italian Club, Milnerton, Cape Town.

The brainchild of Miki Ciman, this premier cheese event will bring together artisan cheese makers, cheese lovers, bakers, brewers and visitors for a weekend of cheese tasting and appreciation.

Ciman, who has been making cheese for more than 40 years and is best known for her family restaurant, La Masseria, said: “The fair promises to be a cheese-lover’s paradise and will allow guests to appreciate every step of the farm-to-table process of cheese making, while highlighting the extraordinary local talent we have in this field. Cheese makers are creative, passionate and committed, and need the opportunity to show off the fruits of their labour. We want to assist them in an affordable way.”

Tastings, pairings, and demonstrations

A lively weekend line-up will feature top artisan cheese experts, chefs and wine purveyors in attendance, conducting tastings, pairings, and cheese-making demonstrations. “Visitors will have the opportunity to experience limited production, rare artisan cheeses and learn about the art of making cheese, while supporting local and sustainable farmers and cheese makers from Cape Town and surrounds. There truly will be something for everyone,” Ciman concluded.

Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of: Adults R80 Scholars (11 to 18) R30 Kids under 10 free.
