Christopher Park to play at Cape Town's Baxter Theatre tomorrow

Award-winning German-Korean pianist Christopher Park, praised for his "pianistic technique, musical conviction and charisma", will give a recital for the Cape Town Concert series on Saturday, 26 October,2013, at the Baxter Concert Hall.

Park will play Beethoven's Sonata Op. 10 No. 3, the Appassionata, Brahms Variations, and Fugue on a Theme by Händel. This concert is collaboration with the St Andrews Concert Series and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a chamber musician and song accompanist, he has established partnerships with Richard O'Neill and Sumi Jo, with whom he recorded three albums for Deutsche Grammophon. Park's career has already taken him to many of the leading festivals and concerts halls in Europe. He has performed at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and with the Radio Symphony Orchestras in Frankfurt and Hamburg and the Spanish National Orchestra. He has also played at the Summit Festival in New York.

First solo recording

In 2010, Park had his first solo recording for Deutsche Grammophon, a debut CD "Russian Transcription" with works from Stravinsky, Rachmaninov and Prokofiev. 2012 marked his second solo disc, "Confession", with works of Franz Liszt, on the same label.
