MSC Opera hosts charity lunch to support Ukuthemba Foundation

For the fourth consecutive year, on 11 November, 2013, MSC Cruises will once again celebrate the arrival of MSC Opera in South Africa with an on-board charity luncheon in Cape Town for the Ukuthemba Foundation, which provides loving homes for abandoned and abused children in South Africa.

Working with local authorities, the Ukuthemba Foundation rescues babies and children who face incredibly difficult situations, such as extreme poverty and neglect, by creating an environment in which they can be nurtured, educated and integrated into society.

The charity luncheon will be hosted in a La Dolce Vita style on board the Lirica-class MSC Opera. Guests will be treated to cocktails, a delicious Mediterranean-style menu with the emphasis on great quality food, inspired by MSC's celebrated Mediterranean heritage, accompanied by a selection of Italian wines.

"It's an afternoon of huge fun and entertainment in support of an amazing cause," said Kim Killeen, chairman of the Ukuthemba Foundation. "Guests will not only get to experience the magnificent MSC Opera, but will help touch the lives of many deserving children."

F1 and Wimbledon tickets

Entertainment includes a burlesque show by the fabulous Demi Monde and a charity auction, which includes hot ticket items such as Formula One Grand Prix tickets and Debenture tickets to Wimbledon. Other sought after items will include art, designer jewellery and vintage wines. Cruise prizes will also be up for grabs courtesy of MSC Cruises SA.

"MSC Cruises has a special relationship with the Ukuthemba Foundation. We have supported the organisation for the last four years, helped protect more than 100 children and established four homes where we are now successfully raising them, with a fifth home soon on the way," said Allan Foggitt of MSC Cruises SA.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Ukuthemba Foundation.

Ticket are available at R1000 per head and R7200 (R900) for a table of eight. For ticket purchases, contact Marissa on gro.abmehtuku@assiram or call Jenny on +27 (0)82 504 7447.
