Angola takes over presidency of Kimberley Process for 2015

Angola took over, on 1 January 2015, the presidency of Kimberley Process (KP), for a one year-term, Angop has learnt recently in Luanda.

During its presidency in the Kimberley Process, Angola will focus its term on issues related to the sale of diamonds, help the producing countries to face the problems of insecurity and bring them for the certification process.

The Kimberley Process started when Southern African diamond-producing states met in Kimberley, South Africa, in May 2000, to discuss ways to stop the trade in 'conflict diamonds' and ensure that diamond purchases were not financing violence by rebel movements and their allies seeking to undermine legitimate governments.
