Call for interest: Marketing at-Retail study

POPAI SA is launching a roadshow on 1 September 2008 to assess the feasibility of establishing a pilot study for Marketing at-Retail (MARI) in South Africa.

MARI is a research methodology which will allow marketers to assess the relative effectiveness of the key components of the point-of-purchase (POP) marketing mix in SA.

POPAI International has successfully launched the MARI research study in the US and is currently planning roll-outs in various European countries. The South African proposed pilot project will focus on the grocery category; the long term vision is that these new standards will be measured on an on-going basis via a syndicated source. The interest in the research has been stimulated by the growing trend by brands towards to boost their in-store marketing at the expense of more traditional media.

The public briefing, to be held on 1 September at the Indaba Hotel in Gauteng, will be introduced by Dick Blatt, CEO of POPAI, and led by Martin Kingdon, CEO of SheridanGlobal - responsible for the worldwide MARI research. These two leading experts will explain the methodologies and the outputs of the project.
