In Turkey, existing Z-Card client Türkiye Meme Vakfi (MEVA) heads up the fight against breast cancer. To create awareness about the disease and to educate women about breast cancer, MEVA contracted the PocketMedia to produce 31 500 credit card-sized z-cards.

"MEVA's aim was to produce an informative communication tool about the diagnosis of breast cancer and include a symbolic product that women can wear to show their support of each other," explains Hanife Yüksel, Z-Card's distributor in Turkey.

A pink silicone breast cancer awareness bracelet was placed around each z-card and both were then packaged in plastic. "To raise funds to assist the organisation in its fight against breast cancer, the z-card's were sold in bookstores and shops. The success of this initiative ensured further orders from MEVA," adds Yüksel.

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) created a z-card as a way of educating the public about Lymphoedema, a form of cancer that occurs when the lymph system is not working.

Being diagnosed withcCancer or any other illness is scary, especially when you don't know too much about the illness. The z-card creates awareness with one side of the card detailing everything a sufferer needs to know about causes, treatment and symptoms of Lymphoedema, whilst the other provides tips to assist those fighting the disease.

According to Lyn Davis, the marketing director of ZAMI, “The z-card offers vital knowledge and contact details and can be easily kept on person for ease of reference."
