The deadline to apply for the 2008 Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Award for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Reporting in Africa, offered in partnership with CNN/MultiChoice has been extended. Applications are now due on Friday, March 14, 2008.

The competition is open to African journalists (including freelancers) working on the continent for an African-owned media organisation which published (in print or online) or broadcast (on television or radio), in English, French or Portuguese, their entry between January and December 2007.

Full details on how to enter are available here.

The award, which will be presented at the CNN/MultiChoice African Journalist 2008 Awards in July 2008, recognises reporting on HIV/AIDS in Africa that illuminates the broad impact of the epidemic on individuals, communities and nations. In addition to the award, Kaiser organises special HIV/AIDS briefings for journalists attending the award ceremony. Established in 1995, the Awards recognise excellence in 16 separate reporting categories, as well as awarding one overall prize.
