Cellulant Malawi's design architect Karen Chinkwita Phiri, who described the initiative as infotainment, said this is where TNM cellular phone subscribers will be able to find information easily.

Zodiak to provide content

She said Cellulant will provide technical solutions and a platform to bring the news from Zodiak to the phone while Zodiak will develop the content the subscriber receives.

"We decided to work with Zodiak because they are a credible and well-established radio station and the news that you receive is something that has gone through proper procedures and is according to the laws of this country," she said.

"As a radio [station] that works to serve the poorest of the poor, we will be able to serve the same listener that we have for the radio station," said ZBS online editor Gabriel Kamlomo.

Kamlomo said they will give provide the headlines of breaking news to subscribers with the whole story available on Zodiak online on ppwww.zodiakmalawi.com]] as well as the radio.

"Now your mobile enables you to know everything that is happening in the country, of course with the help of Zodiak, that if anything happens you will be the first to know before it is even on the news before it is anywhere it will be straight in your phone," said Chinkwita Phiri.
